Literary Criticism

Goal:To analyse literature through the lenses of literary theory.

Task: You will write a literary analysis on one of the following works, applying a corresponding literary theory: Lucy (Postcolonial criticism); The Road (Eco-criticism); Waiting for Godot (Deconstruction);The Yellow Wallpaper (Feminist theory)

Assessment: Your grade will be based on class participation + preparation and understanding of the texts and theories + your written analysis + a seminar where we discuss the implementation of all four perspectives across these texts.

Goal: Write a compare and contrast essay on the concepts Fake News and Satire.

  • Write a comparative paragraph (type 1 model) on pre-internet satire vs post-internet satire.

  • Create a short satirical article or video

Read CJR - The Real History of Fake News + additional sources by choice from the source-document.

  • Task: Write one thesis statement, three topic sentences, and one full compare-and-contrast paragraph (Type 1 or 2) explaining two different motivations behind fake news.
